September Musings

“There is something so special in the early leaves drifting from the trees - as if we are all to be allowed a chance to peel, to refresh, to start again.” Ruth Ahmed

I’ve moved to Wisconsin! It has officially been a month in a new state and space. And it feels so good...now that I’m settled in :) After a flurry of packing and moving and unpacking, getting my fur babies and myself settled in my new home with my Beloved, it feels good to be able to turn a little deeper within. It also feels fitting that I am able to do some self reflection during this month of September, this official change of season from summer into Autumn.

Ahhhh Autumn! Also known as Fall, the season of transformation and introspection, invites us on a journey of self-discovery and renewal. As the leaves change their vibrant hues and the air turns crisp and cool, nature whispers secrets of change and growth. I am fortunate that where I now live I am surrounded and sheltered by a mini forest, a bevy of maple trees that I can almost reach out and touch every morning as I sip my morning coffee and cacao with a sprinkle of cinnamon. I am excited to watch the leaves change from their green tresses to sprightly shades of orange, crimson, and umber. It reminds and reflects to me the changes in my life, in womanhood, in my desires, in love and business. The energy of autumn is grounding and introspective, encouraging us to turn inward and connect with our inner wisdom. It's a time to reflect on the past, embrace the present, and envision the future. I feel such thankfulness in my heart as I remember the first half of my life in Chicago, the many experiences and people who remain dear to me even as I turn fully to face my present and future with new roles, new priorities, new desires, new opportunities, a new life.

Autumn invites us to release what no longer serves us, to let go of attachments and outdated beliefs that may be holding us back. Like the trees shedding their leaves, we can shed the weight of worries and burdens that no longer align with our highest good. Just as the trees seem lighter without their leaves, there is a freedom and a lightness in leaving old belief systems and fears behind. I feel the freeness in my own body and mind as I move throughout my days planning and preparing, and I feel space, a deep joyful internal space that feels delicious. There is such a delightfulness in spaciousness, don’t you think? As we move deeper into autumn, can you think of what you are willing to release and let go of that feels like it’s no longer you? Are you ready to move deeper into your own self reflection and feel your own freedom and lightness? Are there any beliefs that you are ready to shed?

Autumn is a season of gratitude, the time of harvesting what we have sown throughout the year. By practicing gratitude for what we have, we open ourselves up to receiving more abundance and joy. We can express and tap into gratitude through different ways, journaling, meditation, or taking a moment each day to appreciate the beauty around us. I love to sit in the silence of the morning, my own meditation listening to the birds sing around me as I journal or pray.

Autumn also encourages us to embrace the beauty of endings and new beginnings. Every ending holds the promise of a new beginning, and autumn reminds us that change is an essential part of life. We can learn to embrace change with an open heart, knowing that it is often a catalyst for growth and transformation.

One of the most powerful ways to connect with this energy is to spend time in nature. Take a walk through a forest, in the park or your neighborhood, marvel at the changing leaves, and breathe in the crisp autumn air. Allow the beauty of nature to inspire and remind you of the interconnectedness of all things.

By embracing the energy of autumn, we can find balance, harmony and peace within ourselves as we prepare for the winter months ahead. Use this time to rest, recharge, release and nurture your souls, knowing that spring and longer days will eventually return, bringing with it new life and growth. I am ready to go within...are you?
